A new racing season is upon us and with it are a ton of interesting stories. The testing ban, new teams, drivers who have been left out and empty seats in stands have been reported and will be again. The effect of the economy, seems to be the most discussed and far reaching, but has also become the most boring. The stories have found the most compelling surround the early season and small track events. The Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway was exciting to the last lap. The 9 nights of short track action at New Smyrna Speedway is bringing in some great talent. Even the Daytona ARCA event had some good racing between the field-crippling wrecks. I think my interest is drifting to the lower levels of the sport. Perhaps I'm getting tired of the mega-hype around every NASCAR related story. Maybe the bright lights constantly illuminating the Cup Series have started to blind me to the core of the sport. I guess is could also be that I'm just ready for the season to begin. It's time to get the cars on the track and compete. Yes, I'm saying "Shut-up and Drive!"
